Holland High School Health Walk 2012 – Concert
Holland High School from Carib Road in Zion, Martha Brae, Falmouth, held a concert at the end of what it called Holland High School Health Walk 2010.
The participants walked from the Martha Brae/Falmouth Bypass bridge which is just a little over a mile from Falmouth Water square, where the concert was held.
It was a very important and relevant health walk as it was focused on the rights of children, abuse and sexual awareness and abstinence which is becoming increasing problems in Jamaica.
The concert was very entertaining, but the messages from the speakers were for me, the highlight of the day. The guest speaker spoke on the rights of children and pointed out a few rights we took for granted or never knew. One I will not forget is the right to play. Now I knew that for a child to be healthy and smart, the should be free to play, but I did not know they had a legal right to play, enforced by the laws of the land.
Holland High School also brought some of its neighbors along and there was a dance by the William Knibb Dance Troupe and songs by Dennis Tobin Preparatory School. All three schools are located on Carib Road in Martha Brae.
